TRICK: Did you know you can program Golfwits to
collect even more statistical information than just the default settings?
Formula Builder
- A little known feature within Golfwits for the PC. When using golfwits, have
you ever wanted to modify the stats that are presented to you in the default
view? Well now you can with Formula Builder. Formula Builder allows users to
modify the default statistical formulas coded into Golfwits. This allows users
to present gathered data into new and different formats.
The Formula Builder feature was developed with MS Excel users in mind. If you
are an Excel user, or are comfortable with building simple formulas, you will
have no trouble modifying the different pieces of gathered data, further
allowing you to analyze your game in more depth and detail.
If you create a new personal.gwf file to present your stats in a certain way, we
would love to have you email us the file and we will post it to this page as a
resource and example for other users. Send your own custom personal.gwf file to
Feedback
and we will post them to this page. Thanks!

TRICK: Golfwits has a free tool that allows users to
create HTML score cards using their Golfwits data.
: to view a Golfwits HTML score card.
The Golfwits HTML score card displays information such as:
-
Tee and Yardage Information
-
Players
-
Putts
-
Scores
-
Handicap
-
Number of fairways hit
-
Distance of each drive
-
Drive was on the right or left side of the fairway
-
Greens in Regulation
The Golfwits DATA to HTML tool is available by CLICKING HERE!
You can save the file anywhere you like. To make it easier to keep track of, a
suggested location would be c:\program files\siscosoft\golfwitspc
(assuming you elected to install Golfwits to the default directory). Once you
have saved the file named gw2html.exe to your drive, simply DRAG AND DROP a
golfwits data file(.gwd) from the folder called ROUNDS onto the gw2html.exe
file. This will instantly create an HTML file that will appear in the ROUNDS
folder. Find the file, double click on it and the HTML scorecard will open up
in your default browser. From there, you have the flexibility of HTML to be as
creative as you like with your round!!
Have fun and happy golfing!
FYI: Golfwits Data Files are connected to Golfwits
Course Files
Golfwits data files contain the file name of the Golwits course file that
created them. If you play several rounds with a course file and then rename the
course file you will no longer be able to open those round files using that
course because you renamed the course file. To view those round files you will
need to rename the course file back to what it was originally. If you forget
what the name was you can try to find it by opening a round file in Notepad and
finding the spot where the course file name is located.
If you have a friend send you a round, assuming you have the map of the course
that your friend played, and you cannot see the round in Golfwits, then it may
be because your friend's course file is named differently than yours. Ask your
friend to send you their course file and use that file to view their round.
Tip: Put four rounds in the same round file
If you find yourself using only the first golfer in your round files, try using
the same file for four different rounds. That way you can compare the
statistics and print a scorecard out with four different rounds on it.
If you're using a Palm size or Pocket PC you can play a round as golfer 1. The
next time you go out use the same file but play your round as golfer 2. While
you play the round you can switch back to golfer 1 and see how your rounds
compare.
The File Combine tool in Golfwits PC is a great tool for putting together four
rounds into one file. If for example you and some friends recorded rounds in
different files and you want to get everyone into one file so you can compare
the stats, calculate side games, or print out a scorecard, use the File Combine
tool in Golfwits PC to move golfers between files. You can access the File
Combine tool when on the file list screen by clicking File > Combine on the
menu. Note: You cannot combine rounds played on different courses. The rounds
must be recorded using the same course file.
Tip: If you're protective of your Pocket PC you can
be creative in how you keep score for others using Golfwits
If others in your group want you to record their round for them but you don't
want to pass your CE device around so they can record where each shot went try
one of these three things:
-
Ask them their score in strokes and putts and guestimate where their shots
went. You'll probably want to turn "Track clubs" off for these golfers.
-
Ask them their total score and record each stroke as a putt. You can record
every putt as being in the hole if you want to show that the putt locations are
invalid. The statistics will also be invalid, but their score will be correct. Note:
Golfwits records up to 9 putts so if they scored greater than 9 you'll have to
place shots on the map.
-
Print Pro books out for them using Golfwits PC and let them score their rounds
using the Pro books. At the 19th hole they can record their round into your CE
device, you could do it for them, or you could wait and record their round into
your home computer when you return home.
